No Fly Zones

Flight in Australia is controlled by CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority). There are complicated rules and regulations that govern where it is safe to fly. The use of a licensed, certified and insured drone operator for your project will help to ensure the safety, legality and quality of your product.

Standard Operating Conditions

Generally speaking, the following standard operating conditions apply for drone flight.

Drone must be:

  • Operated within visual line of sight

  • No higher than 120m

  • Operated during daylight only

Drone must NOT be:

  • Closer than 30 m to people

  • Operated above populous areas

  • Operated within 5.5km of an airport

EXCEPTIONS:

We hold a Remote Operators Certificate and may apply to CASA for variances of the above conditions.

The Breakaways - Coober Pedy

The Breakaways - Coober Pedy

Hi I’m Andrew Johnston, Director and Chief Pilot at Aerial Photography and Video.

Stunning aerial images that were once out of reach due to cost and location, can now be captured and incorporated into a wide range of visual media - without the expensive price tag.

Drones technology also helps us gain a better understanding of the world around and above us. Whether it be for industrial mapping or data collection, the Aerial Photography and Video team are committed to understanding and using the best aerial technology for the job.

Over the past ten years I have used my video production skills to work with and showcase some of the largest agencies, events and businesses in South Australia and as a passionate South Australian this is one of the reasons I love my job!

I get to travel the state and be a part of some varied and special things, including:

  • location scouting for Mortal Kombat and filming some incredible country in Coober Pedy,

  • capturing the Adelaide Fringe Festival from the air,

  • completing site surveys for the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility potential sites,

  • shooting, directing and editing cinema commercials and producing government informercials

  • working on films and television shows such as Wolf Creek 2, Anzac Girls, and the Adventures of Sam Fox, and

  • partnering with DataFromSky to complete drone traffic management analysis.

These experiences have given me the knowledge and tools to work across all types of production and photography projects. I am passionate about capturing beautiful images that tell YOUR story. With expert staff by my side, you can be assured that the Aerial Photography and Video team will bring both creativity and strong technical skill and knowledge to your next video project.

If you would like to learn how we can help you – on the ground or in the air – please get in touch!

We would love to exceed your expectations.
